This is the biggest bonefish I've ever had an angler land. It weighed 15lbs 8ozs. At first I though my scale was broken. I weigh these fish in the landing net. The landing net weighs 1 pound. The fish in the net weighed 16lbs 8ozs, therefore, the fish had to weigh 15lbs 8ozs. Because I'd never seen the scale read that much with a bonefish I questioned the scale. We had a gallon water jug. It weighed a little over 8lbs. The scale was correct. The angler had never been bonefishing before. This was his first bonefish. He figured they were all that size. He didn't believe me when I told him this fish was the catch of a lifetime, though he found out later when he showed the pictures around. |
